Mild-mannered Milo Terkel\u2019s life is never the same after he is willed a dog named Joe by a former client. A thoughtful husband, Milo buys his wife a beautiful diamond necklace for their anniversary. When he returns home, he finds a note from her saying she is attending a charity affair and that he should take dinner at his club. Instead, he decides to celebrate alone, taking Joe along for company. After drinking two \u201cmysterious gardenias\u201d at the Florida Club, a local nightspot, he meets Gorgeous Gilmore who spots the necklace and asks to try it on. Poor innocent Milo is punched in the nose by Miss Gilmore\u2019s jealous boyfriend, Louie.<\/p>\n
But Milo\u2019s troubles really being when his dog starts to talk to him, and only to him! He tells Milo to stop being everyone\u2019s doormat, and advises him to act tough, like Humphrey Bogart.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a laugh-a-minute from then on as Milo changes from lamb to lion, is innocently caught by his wife with the shapely Miss Gilmore, and thought by all his friends to have gone off the deep end. When his wife sues for divorce, he tells the judge about Joe being his advisor. The judge can only suggest that Milo and his wife take a long vacation to work out their problems. Everyone knows dogs simply can\u2019t talk!<\/p>\n

When Lakeview\u2019s beloved school teacher suddenly marries and moves away, the children are left wondering what their new teacher, Miss Johnson, will be like. Curley races to the swimming hole in his rocket car and he and his pals decide on some drastic measures to ensure the new teacher will not stay. One the way to school the next day, Curley meets Mildred and unwittingly reveals all of the kid\u2019s practical jokes to her, which Mildred then cleverly causes to backfire on the pranksters. Curley is marked as a squealer and things get worse for him when he and his pals are excluded from the class picnic because they\u2019ve been exposed to painted-on “measles.\u201d<\/p>\n
As the class prepares to leave, two preschool youngsters start up Curley\u2019s rocket car, filling the classroom with smoke. Out of control, they speed down country roads, through haystacks and henhouses, with Curley in pursuit. Finally, they force Miss Payne\u2019s car off the road. Curley arrives and the school supervisor demands to know why he is out of class. Not very keen on Mildred\u2019s \u201cmodern\u201d teaching methods, Miss Payne drives to the picnic ground intent on firing the new teacher. But she finds that Mildred has won the respect of the children. Curley is finally vindicated and forgiven by Mildred, and he tells her that he thinks she sure is pretty too.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hugo Robbin, a rather mysterious and eccentric scientist, disappears in the strange explosion of a cottage on his gloomy estate. At her trial, Curley Benson, the ringleader of the neighborhood kids, unwittingly gives some testimony that implicates the kids\u2019 friend, Fix-It-Dan, as the number one suspect. Dan, a former physics professor, was a colleague of the doctor in a secret project until a heated argument over who should benefit from their labors caused a bitter falling out.<\/p>\n
To exonerate Dan, the kids proceed to the doctor\u2019s castle-like mansion, where they are beset by a number of hair-raising and sidesplitting adventures. Secret passages, underground pits, hidden laboratories inhabited by wild animals on the loose, alternately account for shudders, suspense and howls of laughter.<\/p>\n
At the crucial moment, when a killer gorilla is menacing the kids, Dan and the police break in to save the day. They have found the evidence that proves Dan innocent, but the kids will never forget the night they spent in the \u201chaunted\u201d mansion.<\/p>\n

Not willing to stay out of trouble, Curley and his pals embark on solving a mystery when an old house explodes in the night. Chased by a gorilla, and menaced by the evil Doc Robbin, the kids discover that the doctor has met with bad fortune, but in fact, he\u2019s the one dishing it out. Of course, the police are called in at the last minute, and everyone is safe, but not before a hair-raising adventure in what the kids think is a haunted mansion.<\/p>\n

She, of course, cannot do it, but a strange little man magically appears to help. For three nights he spins, and each time Marie gives him a token of appreication \u2013 a necklace, a bracelet \u2013 except on the third night she she has nothing left to give.<\/p>\n
So she promises to give him her first-born child. He then works all night, spinning the biggest pile of gold anyone has ever seen. The King is so pleased that he asks Marie to marry him.<\/p>\n
Time passes and they are blessed with a child. Bu one day, the little man appears to demand his reward. Marie bursts into tears, so the dwarf tells her that she may keep the child if she can guess his name. The King offers all his riches to anyone who can discover the name of the little man.<\/p>\n
Marie\u2019s good friend, Hans, searching one day in the forest, overhears the little man chanting his name: RUM-PEL-STILTS-KIN. Now Marie gets to keep the child, a precious gift worth more than all the riches in the world.<\/p>\n

But the trouble begins on Pinocchio\u2019s very first day of school. Naive and unsuspecting, Pinocchio meets two sly and cunning strangers along the way \u2013 the Cat and the Fox. They talk him into playing hookey, and Pinocchio soon finds himself in the company of all the other lazy children who have been duped by the wily pair. The whole of them is then transported to what appears to be a magical place of never-ending fun called Playland.<\/p>\n
Soon it become clear that the evil Stomboli, for whom the Cat and the Fox work, has other plans for the children: to turn them into donkeys and sell them to the highest bidders.<\/p>\n
Pinocchio and his friend, Pipifax, are sold to the circus where they must perform acrobatics for the cruel ringmaster. Meanwhile, worried by Pinocchio’s absence, Papa Gepetto goes to sea in search of his son. But one stormy night, the sea overturns his boat and he winds up in the belly of a whale.<\/p>\n
Pinocchio miraculously escapes from the circus and rescues his father. Because of his brave deed, the Blue Fairy finally transforms Pinocchio into a real live boy.<\/p>\n

Over the protestations of Mr. Cargill, the Maestro\u2019s ill-tempered assistant who doesn\u2019t think Pinocchio will do a good job, the Maestro agrees to let Pinocchio put on the show. Pinocchio convinces the other puppets to pitch in and do their best for the waiting and anxious children, but Pinocchio has problems getting the curtain up. Just at that moment, the suspicious Cargill drops in, sees Pinocchio\u2019s difficulties and insists that the ailing Maestro come and see what is going on. The Maestro arrives and sees that the children are actually enjoying themselves tremendously. He stays to watch Pinocchio\u2019s show, which includes three animated adventures.<\/p>\n The first is the exciting story of a small dog and his young friend who are stranded on an ice floe and drifting out to sea. At the last possible moment, a passing ship rescues them. Next comes the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty complete with the evil witch and the handsome Prince. The third tale concerns three poor carpenters who come to the aid of an elf in distress and are given one wish apiece as a reward by the grateful elf. It is a midsummer night and the woods are full of love, spells and magic. We now encounter the Fairy Monarchs; the jealous Oberon, the disdainful Titania, and Puck the servant. Oberon sends Puck to find the magic flower whose fragrance causes one to love the first thing one sees. Puck uses the flower to cast the lovers into turmoil; Lysander and Demetrius fall in love with Helena, and Titania falls in love with one of the actors, Bottom.<\/p>\n Finally, Puck rights his wrongs, and removes the spell from Lysander and Demetrius, who then fall back in love with Hermia and Helena, respectively.
