There’s an old saying, “A person who acts as their own attorney may have a fool for a client.” Much has been said about DIY distribution lately, and how easy it is to cut out the distributor and keep all the proceeds from sales. For most filmmakers, distribution is a daunting, difficult task, because it requires knowledge and experience.

Filmmakers need to be prepared to deliver all the elements needed by VOD platforms, TV networks and video distributors. This means both documentation of ownership and clarity of your rights, as well as all the physical materials you will need to deliver when you make a deal, if you are so lucky. It also means that you need to know what the contract that you may be signing actually means.

One cannot release a film without a plan. Where do I start? What do I need? Do I try to sell Pay TV before VOD? Can I sell a film to two buyers at the same time (non-exclusive rights)? What happens if I don’t get paid? These are just a few questions that most filmmakers are not prepared to answer.

That’s why we created Premiere First Independent Distribution. We can answer the questions, find the buyers and maximize the returns from your projects. You will make more money and have time to move onto your new film.

Leave the selling to us.
